National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Oscar Albayalde said that cops should improve their service to match the increase in their base pay.
He said: “Kailangan naman siguro nating suklian ng pagseserbisyo ‘yung pag-doble ng ating sweldo. [I think we should repay with good service the doubling of our salary. We have no more reason to have low morale].
Albayalde’s remarks come after local police officers were said to have had low morale following on-the-spot inspections in which several were caught sleeping and drinking alcohol on duty.
After these on-the-spot inspections, some 18 police officials have been sacked — one from Quezon City, two from Caloocan, four from Muntinlupa, and 11 from Pasay.
Police, soldiers, and other uniformed personnel have already received their paychecks with increase in their base pay this year.
